What is Silk in one sentence?
A mid/side high-frequency air enhancer with Maag-inspired voicing, De-Harsh protection, Auto Gain for level-matched A/B, Quality modes, and a real-time pre/post spectrum analyzer.
How does De-Harsh work?
In 1.1.0, two detectors compare added lift with the source in separate upper-mid regions. They guide selective cuts in the wet signal, which can reduce original content too. Depth follows the source, frequency, Air Lift and De-Harsh, plus Width on the Side path. De-Harsh does not act at zero Air Lift.
Does Warmth need De-Harsh?
In 1.1.0, Warmth generates harmonic body from lower-mid input. It needs some Air Lift, but De-Harsh can remain off. Use material with lower-mid body and compare at matched loudness.
Will old projects sound the same in 1.1.0?
Saved settings remain compatible, but the changed Air, De-Harsh and Warmth processing can sound different. There is no legacy-engine switch. Save a project copy, render important processed tracks and retain the earlier installer and its working signed licence file. A newly generated file may not unlock older builds.
Is Silk 1.1 available now?
Yes. Current purchase downloads include Silk 1.1.0. Check the plugin Information panel for your installed version.
Do the listening examples demonstrate 1.1?
No. They are archive comparisons with an unrecorded processing build and settings. Playback volume is matched from measured loudness, but these files do not demonstrate the new 1.1 engine.
What controls does Silk include?
Air Lift, Width, De-Harsh, Warmth, Input, Mix, Output, Quality, Auto Gain, Soft Guard, Bypass, A/B, preset selection, the analyzer, and optional tooltips.
Plugin formats and platform?
AU and VST3 on macOS 11 or later for Intel and Apple Silicon; x64 VST3 on 64-bit Windows 10 or later. Mono or stereo host layouts are supported. Check your DAW's format and architecture; these requirements do not certify every host combination.
Does the Silk plugin send my audio to a server?
No. The installed plugin processes entirely on your machine. The optional website demo sends only your selected clip for processing and deletes its temporary audio files afterward.
